Site visits
A site visit is a survey before you quote. A good survey means fewer surprises on installation day, such as a longer cable run than expected or a location with no power.
Book a visit
Create a site visit from its lead or from the Site visits page. A number is assigned when you save.
Site visit fields
| Field | How to fill it | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Contact name (required) | The person who will meet your engineer | The engineer knows who to ask for |
| Contact phone | A number that will be answered on the day | The engineer can call if they cannot find the site |
| Site / shipping address | The full address of the site | Becomes the Ship To on the quote |
| Work details | What to check, such as "measure cable run to the rack, check power at gate" | Gives the engineer a clear brief |
| Employee and day | Choose an engineer and a free day | Shows on the calendar, and on that engineer's phone |
| Status | Scheduled, Completed or Cancelled | Tells the office what has happened |
| Notes | What the engineer found | The quote writer's main source |
Choosing an engineer and day
The picker shows each employee's bookings for the day, so you can see who is free before you confirm. The visit then appears on the calendar.
What the engineer does
Field staff see only the visits assigned to them. After the survey, they should add notes covering:
- number and position of cameras
- cable routes and approximate lengths
- location of the recorder and power source
- height and access needs, such as a ladder or scaffold
- internet availability, if the customer wants remote viewing
- anything the customer asked for along the way
They then mark the visit as Completed.
After the visit
Open the visit and write the quote from what was found. Our guide to the CCTV site survey checklist explains what to look for on site.
