GST returns (India)

This section is for companies in India. The GST screen prepares return data from the invoices you have already raised, so that it is not typed twice.

What it covers

  • GSTR-1: outward supplies
  • GSTR-1A: amendments
  • IFF: the Invoice Furnishing Facility, for quarterly filers who use it
  • GSTR-3B: the summary return

Using it

  1. Choose the return and the period.
  2. Review the figures against your invoices.
  3. Download the JSON and upload it on the GST portal.
  4. Mark the return as filed once you have completed it on the portal.

Getting the data right

Good returns start with good invoices. Before you prepare a return, check:

  • the customer's GSTIN on business invoices
  • the place of supply
  • HSN or SAC codes and tax rates
  • that cancelled invoices are marked as cancelled

Please check with your accountant

The software helps you prepare data, and you stay responsible for what you file. Have your accountant review the figures, particularly for your first few returns. Filing rules also change, so check the current position on the GST portal.
