Jobs and job types
A job is a piece of work on an order, such as buying equipment or installing it. Jobs let the office see progress without calling site, and they are the core of how CamVerion works as CCTV installation management software.
Job types
In settings, define the kinds of work you do.
| Field | How to fill it | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Name (required) | Such as Purchase, Installation or Commissioning | The name shown on each job of this type |
| Done by | The role that usually does this work | Helps the right people see and pick it up |
| Create automatically with every new proforma invoice | Tick for work that nearly every order needs | Adds this job to each new proforma |
| Active | Untick a type you no longer use | Removes it from new work |
New accounts start with Purchase, done by office staff, and Installation, done by field staff. Both are created automatically.
How jobs are created
Creating a proforma adds a job for each type marked to be created automatically. You can also add a job yourself for extra work.
Job fields
| Field | How to fill it | Why it matters |

| Job type (required) | Choose from your list | Sets what kind of work this is |
| Title | A short name, such as "Install 8 cameras, Block A" | Makes it clear in lists and on the calendar |
| Due date | When it must be done | Shows what is at risk of being late |
| Cost | What this work cost you. The label changes by job type | Helps you see the true cost of an order |
| Site address | Where the work is | Engineers can find it from their phones |
| Details | What needs doing and any access notes | Reduces calls back to the office |
| Employee and schedule | Choose the person, and start and end times | Places it on the calendar |
Job statuses
- Pending: not started.
- In Progress: being worked on.
- Hold: paused, for example waiting for materials or customer access. Add a note giving the reason.
- Completed: the engineer has finished.
- Approved: the office or admin has checked it.
The gap between Completed and Approved is your quality check. Look at photos and notes before approving.
Photos, notes and hours
Engineers can add photos and notes from their phones. Ask for a photo of each camera's view and the rack once finished. Start and End Work record how long the job really took, which shows up under Job Hours in attendance.
